Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2 Apr 2026
This policy explains what data clairepublishing.com collects, why, and what your rights are. Written in plain English because that’s how it should be.
Who we are
Claire Publishing is an independent publishing project operated by an individual (sole trader) based in the United Kingdom.
Data controller contact: claire@clairepublishing.com
What data we collect and why
Contact form submissions When you send us a message through the contact form, we collect your name, email address, and the content of your message. We use this only to read and reply to your message. We do not add you to any mailing list or share your details with anyone.
Cookies and local storage This site uses the Fictioneer theme, which stores your reading preferences (such as font size, dark mode setting, and reading progress) in your browser’s local storage. This data stays on your device and is never sent to our server.
The site displays a cookie consent banner on your first visit. If you accept cookies, a small cookie is stored to remember that choice. No tracking cookies are used.
Analytics We use GoatCounter, a privacy-respecting analytics tool, to understand how people use this site. GoatCounter counts page views and tells us which pages are visited, which countries visitors come from, and what screen sizes they use.
GoatCounter does not use cookies. It does not collect personal data, IP addresses, or any information that could identify you. It cannot track you across websites. There is no way for us to identify individual visitors.
GoatCounter is open-source and hosted in the EU. You can read their privacy policy at goatcounter.com/help/privacy.
We use this data solely to understand whether people are reading the book and which chapters are most popular, so we can improve the site.
What we do not do
- We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with anyone
- We do not run advertising on this site
- We do not collect payment information
- We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or any cookies for analytics
- We do not profile visitors or build marketing lists
How long we keep your data
Contact form messages are kept in our email inbox for as long as needed to respond to your enquiry, then deleted. We do not maintain a database of contact form submissions beyond what is held in our email system.
Your rights under UK GDPR
